How Flagship is investing in its staff and helping to build successful careers

This National Careers Week, we’re celebrating the wide range of career opportunities across the Group, and our commitment to ensuring we create a unique and inspiring workplace which enables our staff to continuously improve, develop and progress.

Nadine Tapp, Head of Group Academy said: “At Flagship Group, we’re passionate about growing our own talent and continually improving what we do and how we do it. Every role, no matter where in the business, plays a valuable part in delivering an outstanding service to our customers and providing homes for people in need.

“We are always looking to employ the best people - people who are looking to inspire us and be inspired. We believe that work is what we do, not where we do it, and that’s why, through agile working, we empower our people to work wherever, and whenever it suits them.”

The Group launched its in-house Academy at the beginning of the year, with the aim of offering greater training and development opportunities to help staff progress in their career. Nadine continued: “It’s important to us that we build on providing opportunities for staff to continue to develop their skills. Our Flagship Group Academy offers access to personal and professional development opportunities through our Bright Futures Apprenticeship Scheme, Professional Mentoring and Leadership Development Programmes.

“We will soon be launching our virtual Academy platform, and this will enable us to have an agile, digital and social approach to learning. Our staff will be able to access the content in the way they want it, whenever they want it, via a simple, intuitive platform.”

We currently employ 75 apprentices across the Group and through our large apprenticeship programme, we provide them with on the job experience, helping them learn, develop and fulfil their potential.

Tomas Lloyd, Apprenticeship Delivery Manager said: “We’re committed to employing apprentices so that we can recruit, attract and retain the very best talent. Through our apprenticeship and Bright Futures programmes' we have helped more people secure jobs, by helping them gain the skills, confidence and qualifications they need.”

Alongside ensuring our staff have opportunities to grow and develop, their wellbeing remains our priority. We know that by offering support, guidance and creating a working environment where everyone feels they can bring their whole self to work, will enable out great people to continue to do great things.

Nadine said: “We have 137 trained Mental Health First Aiders, access to free mental health counselling and we run a calendar of wellbeing events throughout the year. We also have a dedicated 'Inclusion Champion' for each department, a dedicated Wellbeing and Inclusion Advisor, and offer external specialist support, to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of all that we do.”
