Flagship Homes welcomes first Legal & General Affordable Homes customers
Flagship Homes has welcomed its first Legal & General Affordable Homes (LGAH) customers to their new homes in Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk - officially marking the start of the innovative partnership to provide more affordable housing across the UK.
Flagship has been selected as a management partner of LGAH based on its strong regulatory ratings and commitment to deliver outstanding customer service. New parents Jemma & Aiden, who have recently moved into their new home, said: “We are going to be so happy here. There has been so many really nice little touches and it’s just lovely”. And couple Alex & James said: “We’re very happy customers and very happy with the new home.”
Emma, another new customer said: “I can’t even express how I feel, I am so happy – it’s awesome!” and Shannon, who’s moving in next door said: “Flagship has been brilliant! Feel very welcome and the property looks amazing. I am very happy and excited to be here.”
Flagship is one of 14 housing associations and providers to partner with LGAH, to form a panel which will lead its housing operations across the UK. As part of the panel, Flagship will bring local expertise and established infrastructure to support LGAH in delivering its ambitious pipeline of 3,500 new affordable homes.
The new partnership will offer security and reduced risk, meaning Flagship can focus exclusively on service delivery, leaving LGAH with more capacity to continue to deliver high-quality affordable homes across the country.
David McQuade, Chief Executive of Flagship Group said: “We’re delighted to partner with a company that shares similar values to provide high-quality affordable homes. We have an aligned vision to solve the housing crisis and by working together, we can look at innovative ways to accelerate new home delivery. Our focus will be on ensuring the individuals and families have successful tenancies and enjoy their new homes for years to come.”
Currently, over 100,000 households are waiting for social housing in the East of England alone, with 1.1 million households waiting across the UK. These are the first few homes of the partnership, which will increase to 41 homes this year and c.300 homes over the next three to five years.
Ben Denton, Managing Director of Legal & General Affordable Homes said: “We are delighted to be bringing forward our first scheme as part of our partnership with Flagship and delivering new affordable homes for residents in the East of England. Since formation, our business has secured over 6,500 homes and is investing patient institutional capital to build more affordable homes to bridge the gap between need and demand”
