Flagship Group has been awarded the Bronze status in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), recognising the Group’s commitment to supporting defence personnel, veterans, and their families. This follows Flagship’s reaffirmed commitment to the armed forces community in July 2024, when we signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

This award reflects Flagship’s pledge to offer practical support to those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, including recruitment initiatives and additional paid leave that caters specifically to veterans, reservists and their families.

The bronze award is the starting point for any employer that has signed up to the covenant, with progression towards silver and gold upon meeting the standards of the previous level.

It also coincides with the first meeting of Flagship’s recently established Armed Forces Covenant Network, with 22 colleagues from across Flagship Group, Gasway, Flagship Services, and our central teams, coming together with offers of time, skills, and enthusiasm to support this initiative.

Chairing the meeting were Anna Tanner, Flagship’s head of employee experience, and Andy Merrill, Gasway’s head of group and electrical operations. Joining them was David Beer, regional manager at veterans charity Walking With The Wounded, who shared insights on how Flagship can further support veterans and their families.

Ms Tanner said: “Together, we'll be driving initiatives that not only support and celebrate those who serve, but also strengthen our community outreach efforts.

“It was fantastic to see members of Flagship from across the broad spectrum of teams and roles we have, who were so willing to share their time and provide open and constructive insight to where we could take the efforts of this group.”

Mr Beer said: “History has been made today with this inaugural Armed Forces Network meeting. Thank you to Anna and Andy for being wonderful co-chairs, and to the staff from across the whole of Flagship, both veterans and those keen to support the group moving forward.

“I really enjoyed the Q&A session we had, and the thoughts from the attendees were really valuable. Small steps become strides, so thank you all.”
