Flagship Group awarded a further £425,000 in Green Homes Grant, improving the energy efficiency of 120 more homes

Following on from Flagship successfully securing £350,000 of funding in October, the Group has recently been awarded a further £425,000 from the Government's Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery scheme. This funding is thanks to a successful bid for £3m funding by a Suffolk consortium of local authorities, to help improve the energy efficiency of low-income households across the county.

Through working in partnership with Suffolk authorities, Flagship will use this funding for energy efficiency works on 120 of its homes, supporting the installation of much needed external wall and under floor insulation. This will help take 120 homes from an EPC rating of E or below to C and above. These improvements will also benefit the environment through annual carbon savings of 81 tones and will save customers more than £18,000 per year on their fuel bills.

Megan Gonsalves, Energy and Sustainability Manager for Flagship Group said: “This is one more important step on our journey to improve the future of our customers and our planet. It’s an especially challenging time for people right now, so we want to do our bit to make our homes more affordable and tackle the real issue of fuel poverty. We hope that by working with local contractors, we can reduce our annual carbon footprint by 81 tons and our customers will benefit from warmer homes and cheaper energy bills”.

Flagship is one of five schemes across the county which will benefit from the funding which has been provided by the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy, helping to create a carbon neutral Suffolk by 2030.

As we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, tackling fuel poverty and making homes more affordable for customers is more important than ever. The Group intends to embrace a greener, cleaner approach to its thinking – improving the future of Flagship’s customers and communities, as well as the future of the planet.
