Flagship Group and Ebrik launch new augmented-reality construction consultation app
- The new app was developed to visualise new developments in 3D before construction starts
- It aims to actively involve key stakeholders both before and during construction
- Development was carried out with significant input and feedback from residents
Flagship Group has partnered with construction software development company Ebrik to launch See It First, an augmented-reality (AR) app that aims to bring tenants and stakeholders closer to new housing developments. The platform seeks to increase transparency in the construction industry by engaging stakeholders in the construction process in a brand-new and innovative manner.
The app allows users to visualise proposed new developments before construction begins. This gives tenants and local residents the opportunity to more actively engage with development projects by helping them to see what new homes could look like in three-dimensional space.
Flagship and Ebrik hope to show tenants and residents how their feedback can influence the design and construction process. The aim is for these local stakeholders to see their wants and needs reflected in the developments.
James Payne, Director of Regeneration at Flagship Group, said: “The app is a great opportunity to push the boundaries of what’s possible with technology and help get our tenants more involved.
We really think this is an accessible tool that is easy for people to engage with, which will help us reach more of the community and be able, in due course, to shape what we do.
This will be a fundamental change in the way that we consult on projects. The hope, by using the app, is that we can bring the changes to life. People will be able to see what the changes look like in their community and really start to drive change for themselves, and what they want.”
Ana Moutinho, founder of Ebrik, added: “The main purpose of Ebrik is to bring transparency in the construction industry and more focus on a group of stakeholders that normally is not too engaged during the construction process.
With this project we’re definitely building something new. We can clearly see from these consultations how open, willing, and interested residents are in engaging with these new technologies.
It really allows residents to start creating memories in this virtual space that will become their space. In a very early stage, we get residents attached to the project in a different dimension than what, for instance, floorplans would give us.”
